Sorry, but though this book does have some interesting information it is impossible to believe any of it because the author chose to write this as he points out as a "movie of the week".He uses some actual facts, but he makes up dialogue that is just unreal, banal, and contrary to actual human interactions.
He invents a "go team" that if it existed would have to be THE most unprofessional team of investigators ever gathered together, and makes some very cardboard cutout characters act as no human beings ever would specially pilots. It's embarrassing. Mixed in are some good descriptions of the confusion and problems a pilot can have when not instrument rated and flying into instrument weather. It's not totally bad, there are good descriptions here and there about the mindset and procedures a pilot has to handle, but there are some very unrealistic actions, as well as dumbing down of procedures actually used in flight. Very disappointing book. I'm not a hard critic, I love a good number of books a both flight but this was mostly a wast of time. The show "air crash investigations" did a much better and more interesting investigation on the tragic end to JFK Jr. And his last flight.
This book is simple whenever it goes to the supposed dialogue and also when he makes his made up go team talk. Nobody acts like this. Bad writing.

The Last Flight of JFK Jr How it Went Tragically Wrong and Why Richard Roth eBook Reviews
What a good book. All the facts are there step by step on how this horrible accedent happened. I love the story he put together between the charictors and JK jr, Carolyn and her sister Lauren. One very interesting thing about the book is that there are no numbers on the pages -- so you don't know what page your on. I don't know if this was an error or on purpose. It's a great book though.
Very interesting reading. Kept my attention all the way thru. I did not think it would but the fact it has story around the people investigating the accident made it much more interesting.
I really enjoyed the author's story line. The technical description was such that a non-aviation experienced person could actually understand, and learn from it. I loved that! Then, the second part of the book was written for someone with more experience, making the whole book/concept an interesting read.
My one and only critical comment is that there couldn't have been an editor that went over the book very carefully. There were places in the book where the grammer was bad - enough so that I had to re-read sentences and/or a whole paragraph to understand what the author was saying.
But, I liked the book.
The key to reading this book, for me, was that though the main characters were fictional, the events contributing to JFK Jr's tragic death were true. This book describes what it was like on the other side of the accident, the search and rescue team, and the plausible emotions between Mr. Kennedy, his wife, sister-in-law, and the aftermath of their deaths. I recommend this book for anyone who is still wondering how it all happened.
This story is told by a pilot, and how he looked at all the data to come to the conculsion of what happened the night JFK jr , his wife and sister-in-law died. I liked the writing, made a lot of sense and makes you wonder if that's "truly" what did happen. I've watched documentaries that think there were plots and evidence destroyed that proved that John and the passengers were murdered. Also interesting. But....sometimes an accident is just an accident. Would recommend and everyone can decide for themselves.
As an author myself (When Spirits Speak Messages from Spirit Children), I was intrigued by the author's writing style choice writing a novel using the actual facts of the event and real-life characters. It worked for me all the way through. It certainly made it easier to understand how the accident could have happened. My hat is off to the NTSB and the job they do, it can't always be easy, especially in this situation with sommeone as famous as John F. Kennedy, Jr. Thank you Richard Roth, you've given me an idea for a factual event I want to pursue in the future. So sad that this accident could have been prevented on so many fronts and these three beautiful souls would have been alive today.
After 17 years this book written about the NTSB report of the tragedy is written as a novel wth the actual report at the end of the book. The facts are cold and sterile but the novel made the report interesting and easy to understand what really went wrong. Reading this has made me wonder "what if" again and again and to remember many things I had forgotten about the event, the man his family and the 90s! Good read
